A 16-year-old boy has died after getting into trouble in Loch Bray, near Maidenhead, Berkshire.
Thames Valley Police said officers were called at 11.45am on Monday and a body was found shortly after 1.30pm.
Superintendent Michael Greenwood, local police commander for Windsor and Maidenhead, said: “This is an absolute tragedy. The boy’s next of kin have been notified and offered support at this extremely difficult and traumatic time.”
Police in Leeds have urged people to stay away from dangerous bodies of water following the death at Ardsley Dam.
Officers were called to a report of a man getting into trouble in the water at 5.30pm on Saturday and a body was found on Sunday.
Detective Inspector Phil Hughes, from Leeds CID, said: “This incident serves as a timely reminder of the dangers of open water swimming. The weather is expected to get hotter this week. I would urge people not to enter or swim in reservoirs or open water.”
In Greater Manchester, the 16-year-old died after being seen struggling in the water at Salford Quays at around 6.15pm on Saturday. The police, fire brigade and ambulance were called and the body was recovered by specialist divers.
Detective Inspector Joanne Johnston, of Greater Manchester Police, said: “We are doing everything we can to support the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time and are focused on ensuring they get the answers they deserve about how this tragedy happened.
“We are confident from our inquiries so far that there are no suspicious circumstances and that this is such a sad reminder of the dangers of entering open water, whatever the weather.”
