SAGINO, Michigan (AP) – A retired optometrist in Michigan faces federal charges of allegedly leaving loops and notes ridiculing the Black Lives Matter movement in a couple’s truck and near or inside stores, and making threatening phone calls.
Federal prosecutors said Wednesday that 61-year-old Kenneth David Pilon of Saginaw has been charged with six counts of interfering in activities protected by the federal government – a crime punishable by up to a year in prison and fines.
Threatening calls were made to Starbucks stores in Michigan. An FBI special agent wrote in an affidavit that the allegations alleged that Pilon “intimidated and tried to intimidate citizens into legally participating in speeches and peaceful assemblies.”
