A porch pirate rodent has a new voltage converter for his lair after he was caught on camera stealing an Amazon package from a home near Winchester, Ontario. this week.
Kerry Koons tells CTV News Ottawa the family received a call indicating the package was delivered Wednesday night, but there was no sign of the package at the home south of Ottawa.
After searching the property, Coons saw the security camera on the porch and discovered that a groundhog grabbed the item off the porch and fled the scene.
A two-minute video sent to CTV News Ottawa shows the groundhog walking up to the small package on the porch and sniffing it. Shortly after, the marmot ran away with the package in its mouth.
“Apparently he needed the 120 volt to 12 volt converter more than I did to power something in his hole,” Koons told CTV News Ottawa.
Coons says after they searched the property, they never found the package.
Meanwhile, the perpetrator is still at large. The marmot is believed to have sunk into the ground with the package.
