Children’s vaccines for COVID 19 are expected to be available this week.

Media Release – The COVID-19 vaccine for children 6 months to 5 years will begin arriving in the region this week

July 25, 2022 – In anticipation of Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine for children ages six months to five years arriving later this week, Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health is working with local doctors and pharmacies to ensure that parents have access to the vaccine for their children. Locally, vaccinations for children six months to five years of age will be administered by primary care providers and selected pharmacies.

“I encourage every parent and caregiver to talk to their primary care provider or pharmacist to answer their questions about vaccination — especially for children entering school or kindergarten this fall,” said d Dr Nicola Mercer, Medical Officer of Health and Chief Executive of WDG Public Health. “Each of us must continue to protect ourselves, our loved ones and our community from COVID-19 by following public health measures – including vaccination. I encourage everyone, regardless of age, to keep up with vaccinations.”

Residents without access to a primary care provider should contact WDG Public Health at 1-800-265-7293 ext. 7006, Monday-Friday 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Booking a vaccination appointment at Public Health for children aged 6 months to 5 years will only be available by phone and not through our online booking system.
