After a long wait, OnePlus has finally revealed the release date of its upcoming new phone, the 10T, which is set to launch on August 3rd.
Although the OnePlus 10T isn’t expected until next month, the smartphone’s specs are sure to create a buzz among fans. The smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and will be available in two elegant color options.
However, the smartphone lacks one key OnePlus feature, the notification swipe button. Although the OnePlus 10T looks almost similar to the OnePlus 10 Pro, it won’t feature the notification slide button along with the Hasselblad-branded camera system.
The notification slider bar is permanent on OnePlus flagships. The convenient button located on the side of the smartphone offers a quick and easy way to put the smartphone into silent or vibrate mode. So why is OnePlus saying goodbye to the button?
Well, OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu went into important details about the upcoming OnePlus 10T while explaining why the company had to skip the button.

Liu informed that OnePlus had to give up the alert slider button to make more room internally for other necessary components “Although the alert slider looks like a very small component, it actually has a relatively large impact on the device’s motherboard area – like up to 30mm2,” OnePlus chief designer Hope Liu said in a blog post.
In order to upgrade the user experience and add extra elements, OnePlus had to compromise on the notification slide button.
“To ensure the OnePlus 10T delivers in the areas we know our users value most – with super-fast charging, large battery capacity and better antenna signal, while retaining the alert slider, we had to line up the bottom device circuit board, which would have made the device thicker,” he added.
A lot of thought went into the design of the OnePlus 10T, which took a year to complete. During this period, the tech company went through hundreds of prototypes before finalizing the two colors – Moonstone Black and Jade Green.
The OnePlus 10T is equipped with super fast charging, which requires the device to have two charging pumps.
OnePlus revealed that without increasing the thickness of the device, the maximum battery capacity they could put in the OnePlus 10T while keeping the warning slider would be 4,500 mAh.
To increase the device’s battery capacity, OnePlus removed the notification slider on the 10T and made other optimizations to offer users a higher capacity. The OnePlus 10T comes with an improved gaming antenna that provides better signal strength even when the device is in horizontal position.
The addition of this new antenna system—consisting of 15 separate antennas around the device’s body—was also made possible by removing the device’s warning slider, along with other optimizations, Liu informed.
