Police have arrested and charged a man with aggravated murder in Chicago after he allegedly shot his wife several times in the Target parking lot, which led to her death.

Jennifer Hamilton, a 47-year-old union steward from the International Union of Service Workers, was in the Target car park when a man approached her and shot her several times before fleeing, FOX 32 in Chicago reported.

The man was later identified as her husband, Alfonso Hamilton, 50, after he turned himself in to Schiller Park Police Department, police said.

Jennifer was transported in critical condition to Loyola University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.
