NASA will send two more Ingenuity-like helicopters to Mars for a sample return mission

NASA plans to send two more helicopters to the Red Planet as part of its program to return samples from Mars.

The US space agency announced on Wednesday that equipment based on the design of the Ingenuity helicopter will help return Martian rock and soil samples to Earth in a future mission planned for 2033.

NASA’s Perseverance rover has so far collected 11 rock core samples and one atmospheric sample, with its latest sediment rock expected to contain evidence of ancient microbial life on the Red Planet.
