Calgary police say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a vehicle in the northeast Thursday morning.
Just before 2 a.m., police were called to the Huntington Hills neighborhood for reports of a crash on 4 Street Northeast.
Sergeant Steve Campbell said the pedestrian and another person were either walking along the curb or potentially skateboarding south on the street when a woman in her 20s was struck by a vehicle, a 2005 silver Infiniti M35X.
In a statement Thursday afternoon, police said the vehicle briefly left the roadway, flipped upside down and then came to rest on the side of the road.
The vehicle veered back onto the roadway and the driver pulled into a nearby street before coming to a stop.
The driver – a man in his 20s – and his passenger were uninjured.

Police believe speed and alcohol may have been factors in the fatal crash.
The accompanying pedestrian and another nearby witness were interviewed and CPS said police resources would be at their disposal.

“They’re pretty shaken up,” Campbell said of the person who witnessed the crash.
“Fortunately, this was not an accident where two pedestrians were hit. Fortunately, the other pedestrian was not injured as a result. Obviously, emotional trauma is something this person will be dealing with for a while.
The speed limit on the stretch of road where the crash happened is 50 km/h, but Campbell said it was too early to say how fast the driver was going when the fatal crash happened.
As of 8:15 a.m., the road was open to travel.
