Westbound Interstate 401 between Colborne and Cobourg was closed for several hours after a collision mid-afternoon Thursday.
According to Today’s Northumberland, the SUV is believed to have rear-ended a transport.
The driver of the jeep died on the spot. The driver of the transport was not injured.
Interstate 401 west was reopened around 9 o’clock Thursday night.
