New York Governor Kathy Hochul declares a state of emergency over monkeypox

New York: New York State Governor Kathy Hochul late Friday declared a state of emergency due to the continued spread of monkeypox.

“I am declaring a national emergency to strengthen our ongoing efforts to address the monkeypox outbreak,” Hochul tweeted. She added that more than one in four cases of monkeypox in the United States are in New York, which also has a disproportionate impact on at-risk groups.
