Search for missing man ends with body found in Lake Ontario

Police say they have found the body of a man who was reported missing after falling from a tube into Lake Ontario.

At about 12:05 a.m. Monday, officers from the Niagara Regional Police Marine/Underwater Search and Rescue Unit located the recovered man not far from where he was last seen.

Forensics and the medical examiner were on scene and an autopsy was scheduled. Not treated as suspicious.

The deceased has been identified as a 37-year-old Mississauga man.

Police said emergency services contacted the missing man at around 7.40pm on Sunday. Officers attended the scene in Port Dalhousie and an initial investigation found a boat towing a tube capsized and the tube rider went into the water and did not resurface.

St. Catharines Fire and Emergency Services and the Canadian Coast Guard were on scene.
