Reports of a possible shooting at Westfield Garden State Plaza, which appears to have caused panic at a New Jersey mall on Saturday afternoon, were unfounded, police said.
There was no shooting at a shopping center in Paramus, the police department tweeted. The messages on the social networks for the evacuation started at around 4 p.m.
Officers have been sent to the mall for warnings, police said. About an hour after the riot began, police said the people involved had left the area.
No casualties were reported. Forensic scientists continue the investigation.
