West Coast teenagers ticketed after caught hanging out of vehicle windows

A group of teenagers have been issued fines with additional charges, which are believed to come after breaching the West Bank Highway Traffic Act.

At around 11.30pm on August 1, police found a vehicle in Hughes Brook with three teenagers sitting in the open windows, their bodies hanging from the outside. They pulled the car over and cited the 18-year-old driver for operating a vehicle without reasonable regard for other persons, with more passengers than seat belts and with a minor passenger not properly secured.

Two 16-year-old passengers were also ticketed for not wearing seat belts. The other juvenile was transported home.

Police are continuing their investigation to see if more charges will be filed.
