Police agencies in British Columbia held a joint news conference to identify 11 men they say are connected to multiple murders and shootings in the province, warning the public to avoid approaching them.
“It is very likely that a rival gangster will target them with violence,” said CFSEU Asst. Cmdr. Manny Mann, saying the listed men are a risk to their friends and family, as well as bystanders.
“We want British Columbians to know their faces,” he said.
Mann went on to promise to confiscate their property, including vehicles, to thwart their alleged illegal activities.
The names on the list are:
- Shakeel Basra, 28
- Amarpreet Samra, 28
- Jagdeep Cheema, 30
- Ravnder Sarma, 35
- Barinder Dhaliwal, 39
- Andy St. Pierre, 40
- Gurpreet Dhaliwal, 35
- Richard Joseph Whitlock, 40
- Samrup Gill, 29
- Sumdish Gill, 28
- Sukdeep Pansal, 33
A Vancouver police spokesman revealed that the province’s largest police department is doing undercover work to try to combat the problem, insisting they have invested significant resources into it and defending their tight-lipped approach to avoid entering the details.
“I know it can be frustrating for the public to hear about incidents of violence in their communities and feel unsafe,” Deputy Chief Fiona Wilson said.
She went on to describe several arrests made in coordination with other police agencies, some of which involved international cooperation.
“We are equally concerned and disappointed to have to appear before you again to address a series of recent events related to drug trafficking and gang violence,” said BC RCMP Assistant Commissioner Will Ng. “I am asking for your support and assistance.
He said because gangsters move through the Lower Mainland and other areas, working with different police agencies is critical.
