A woman faces DUI charges after the back end of NH – NBC Boston

A woman was reportedly driving with a disability on Saturday morning when she crashed her car into the back of a New Hampshire State Police cruiser on FE Everett Turnpike.

Manchester-based Erica Murphy, 39, has been charged with drunk driving following the incident shortly after 7:30 a.m. near 11.2 miles in Merimac.

According to state police, a soldier was sitting inside his cruiser, which was located in the right lane of damage on the north side of the highway, when Murphy continued to drive his Ford Edge in the lane of damage and hit the back of the soldier’s cruiser.

Both the soldier and Murphy were injured in the collision. They were taken to Elliott Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Colonel Nathan Neuss issued a statement highlighting the dangers facing soldiers every day and asking motorists to help protect Granite’s roads.

“Wars from your New Hampshire state police continue to risk their lives every day to ensure that New Hampshire remains the safest state in our nation,” Neuss said. “The dangers they face are real and often unforgivable.”

“As our men and women continue to ensure the safety of everyone on our roads, we urge travelers to remain vigilant and avoid distractions, fatigue and injury while behind the wheel,” he added. “We all need to keep our communities safe.”

Murphy is due to stand trial Monday at Hillsborough County High Court. It was not immediately clear whether she had found a lawyer.

All aspects of the crash remain under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed is called to contact a sergeant. Christopher Martino by calling 603-223-8626 or sending an email to Christopher.J.Martineau@dos.nh.gov.
