Monkeypox: How many cases in Canada?

Monkeypox cases are on the rise in Canada as part of an ongoing global epidemic.

The viral illness – often presenting as a flu-like infection with a rash – is spread through close personal contact with those who have a symptomatic case. Vaccines are offered to those at highest risk.

The World Health Organization declared monkeypox a public health emergency of international concern on July 23.

The Public Health Agency of Canada tracks publicly reported cases across the country by updating the number of confirmed monkeypox infections in each province and territory on a weekly basis.

Federal data do not distinguish between active and recovered cases, although PHAC says it continues to collect and analyze epidemiological information on the number of infections in this country.

Here is the number of known monkeypox cases in Canada.
