Afternoon Update: Steamy and stormy weather continues through the weekend

The recent weather certainly fits the calendar, but that doesn’t make it any less awkward. The heat and humidity continue, as do daily chances for storms later in the day. As with the past few days, any storms that develop will be scattered in nature, but are likely to include heavy downpours and some localized flooding.

until tonight: Showers and thunderstorms are possible in places in the late afternoon and early evening. Any storms that develop will be slow moving and include heavy downpours that may lead to some localized flooding. Storm chances will diminish after midnight, but it will remain unpleasant overnight with temperatures and dew points in the mid-70s.

Tomorrow (Sunday): More of the same on Sunday, with hot, humid conditions and a chance of afternoon storms. Temperatures will reach the low 90s, and high humidity levels will push the heat index near the triple digits at times. Storms with heavy rainfall are possible in the afternoon and evening. The chance of showers and storms will diminish after nightfall and it will be another warm and muggy overnight period with temperatures and dew points in the low to mid 70s.
