Surrounded by family, Gordon Willard Evoy passed away peacefully on August 4, 2022 at the age of 75. Loving husband, best friend and dance partner of 50 years to Laurie Evoy. Cherished and adored father of Bradley (Laurie) and Tricia (Keith). Son of the late Donald and the late Corinne Evoy and son-in-law of Keith and the late Lola Cook. Brother of David Evoy (Natalia), the late Paul Evoy (Susan), Elson Evoy (Kate), the late Patrick Evoy (Darlene) and brother-in-law of Alan and Pam Cook and the late Lisa Cook. Loving grandfather of Haley and Marshall Evoy and Nelson McKay. Uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews and beloved cousin to many.
Gordon worked at Algoma Steel for many years prior to his retirement where he made many lifelong friendships. After retirement, Gordon spent much of his time in the garden. He loved music all his life and played a variety of instruments, but his passion was playing the piano. Gordon was a dedicated organist at Barr River United Church for most of his life. He had a wicked sense of humor that was great fun for all who knew him, but he also had a caring and compassionate heart and offered kind words to others and lifted the spirits of many who needed it.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bar River Hall (14 Lapish Rd, Echo Bay) on Wednesday August 10 from 3pm to 6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations (payable by check or online) to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to Arthur Funeral Home – Barton & Kiteley Chapel (492 Wellington St. East 705-759-2522) Favorite memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.arthurfuneralhome.com for the Evoy family.
