After two difficult years of prolonged COVID-related restrictions and loss of business, the local tourism industry has seen a major resurgence.
That’s according to longtime tour operator Barry Rogers of Iceberg Quest in Twillingate and St. John’s.
“I have to say it’s going the best,” Rogers says. “We were blessed with icebergs” for the first few weeks of the season, he says, and now they’re seeing an abundance of whales, “honestly, I’ve never seen so many whales,” Rogers says, in all his time in the business.
Rogers says it’s nice to see visitors coming back from all over the world to enjoy the special experiences Newfoundland and Labrador has to offer.
In recent weeks, they’ve seen a large influx of foreign visitors from places like Japan, the Netherlands and France — “from all over the world,” says Rogers.
