Apple’s rumored iPhone 14 will likely get its big reveal at the company’s September 7 media event, with many signs pointing to a mid-September launch of the new phones. The unveiling event is expected to feature a larger, non-Pro iPhone 14, along with possible changes to the design, price, and new features of the iPhone line.
Since the iPhone usually goes up for pre-order on the Friday of the same week as the event, we’d expect that to happen this year on Friday, September 9. iPhone release dates are usually a week and a half after Apple’s announcements. Sometimes release dates are rescheduled for specific models, especially when introducing a new design or size. So it’s possible that the iPhone 14 lineup will have more than one release date.

This year’s event also follows the Labor Day hypothesis that CNET has been diving into since 2018. It hasn’t always followed suit, as the hypothesis didn’t come true in either 2020 or 2021, and it’s still possible the reported supply chain issues for the iPhone 14 could affect its eventual release date. However, a recent Bloomberg report suggested a September 7 launch along with a September 16 launch date. Prominent Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo quelled some of those fears about the supply chain, saying there should only be a “limited” impact in a July post on Twitter.
