Toronto police say the arrests of two women and a man for the murder of Daniel Hoffman – in a high-rise building near York and Harbor St. – were made with the help of cops in the Niagara area.
Sylvain Bernier last saw Hoffman on Tuesday at 9:30 p.m., when he left his wallet to a friend he had forgotten about after hanging out last Saturday.
“We didn’t talk much. We were both in a hurry, “he said of the brief meeting when Hoffman went downstairs to pick up his wallet.
Police were called to the high-rise building shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday.
“It’s awful. I’m so upset and I denied it at first,” said Bernie, who heard about the murder on Thursday morning. “It’s very shocking.”
“We became good friends because my ex-girlfriend knew him very well,” Bernie told Hoffman, who has worked in finance for about a year and a half. “We could all get together and get closer.”

Bernie was not surprised to learn that the arrests were coming quickly, as the tower of the apartment had a large guard.
“There are so many cameras that there’s no way they can get out of there without being noticed,” he said.

“His father came to pick him up,” Bernie said. – Can you imagine how he should feel?
