Toronto police seek help for man allegedly hitting woman with metal object

Toronto police are asking for help in identifying a man who allegedly hit a woman with a metal object at the eastern end of the city.

The incident happened on Sunday shortly after 3 am in the area of ​​Victoria Park and Danford Avenue.

Police said a woman got off a TTC bus on Victoria Park Avenue and was walking north when an unknown man approached her from behind.

The man subsequently hit the woman on the head with a metal object, police said.

He then fled the area and was last seen south on Victoria Park Avenue to Danforth Avenue.

Police said the woman was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police released photos of the man from a security camera on Thursday. He is described as weighing 200 pounds with a goatee.

The man was last seen wearing black jeans, black and white sneakers – probably Nike Air Force One, a gray denim jacket, a black sweater with white stripes and a dark baseball cap.

He was carrying a gray rucksack.
