CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – Cedar Rapids police arrested in connection with a fatal car accident on Thursday afternoon.
At approximately 3:56 p.m., police and firefighters in Cedar Rapids were sent to the southern zone of I-380 and Highway 30 to report a two-vehicle accident.
Teams arrived on the scene and found that a black jeep had collided with a motorcycle.
Preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the jeep tried to get out of I-380 to the south with the intention of heading for Highway 30 East. However, the SUV deviated from the exit ramp through grass resolution and returned to I-380, where it collided with the motorcycle.
The motorcyclist was thrown off the motorcycle and died from injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the jeep is unharmed.
Carlos Garcia, 39, is accused of car murder and drunk driving.
Other fees are likely to come.
