The T-90M is an updated version of the T-90 and is equipped with the latest Russian military equipment. Ukrainian troops destroyed hundreds of Russian tanks with shoulder-mounted missiles, including NLAW, supplied by Britain, but the T-90M had to be impregnable due to the exploding armor.
He also wears a self-unfolding smokescreen, which fires if he finds a laser beam fired at him, a net through his missile deflection tower and “lamella armor” on the back to protect against grenades.
The T-90M has a crew of three – commander, driver and archer – and is armed with two machine guns and a main cannon that can fire projectiles at enemy tanks and helicopters up to three miles away. It carries 43 shells and is designed to attack in the style of “killer hunter”.
The conflict has inflicted heavy losses on some of Russia’s most capable units
“Approximately 100 T-90M tanks are currently in service among Russia’s best-equipped units, including those fighting in Ukraine,” the defense ministry said. “The conflict in Ukraine is having a severe impact on some of Russia’s most combat-ready units and state-of-the-art capabilities. It will take considerable time and expense for Russia to rebuild its armed forces after this conflict.”
