Ohio Bucky honors former quarterback Dwayne Haskins before Saturday’s spring game

Dwayne Haskins’ contribution to the Ohio football program will not be forgotten any time soon.

Haskins, 24, was killed when he was hit by an I-595 dump truck in South Florida on April 9.

Ahead of its spring game on Saturday, the state of Ohio paid tribute to its former star quarterback by honoring a moment of silence at Ohio Stadium. Players and coaching staff wore “DH” stickers or pins.

Haskins’ initials were also placed on the field, near the 5-yard line. The current quarterback of Buckeyes CJ Stroud wore the shirt number 7 of Haskins as a personal tribute.

During Bucky’s 13-1 season in 2018, Haskins threw 4,831 yards and 50 touchdowns – both the Big Ten and single-season records at school.

Haskins, the 2018 Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year and 2019 Rose Bowl Offensive MVP, was selected 15th overall by Washington in the 2019 NFL Draft. He was preparing to enter his second season with the Pittsburgh Steelers this fall.
