Police have confirmed they are investigating an attack involving porters and a man in the city center.
Officers received a report that a man had been attacked in front of our Temple Court bar, just off Matthew Street in downtown, around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2. Footage of the incident has only surfaced in recent days and has been widely circulated on social media.
The 19-second clip begins with two men looking like porters leaning over a man wearing a gray top on the floor. One of the janitors hits the man on the floor while another seems to be holding him.

At one point in the video, one of the janitors grabbed the man by the back of the head and pressed him to his face with his knees. Then she grabs him by the face and hits the man repeatedly. The man in the gray top falls to the side, where the video shows the doorman kicking him in the chest.
Another doorman punches him in the face again. A Merseyside police spokesman said the man went to hospital with his injuries and was then discharged.
About 13 seconds later, a retiree appears in the video, trying to end the quarrel and approaching the doorman to stop. The video shows another killer from behind kicking the older man. Then the man on the floor gets up and walks away.

It is not clear what may have happened before the filming began, but police confirmed today that they are investigating the incident. Extensive CCTV investigations have been conducted and witnesses to the incident and three men must volunteer to attend an interview at the Merseyside police station, police said.
Anyone who has witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact the police. Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “It was a nasty attack in which a man was injured and we are aware of the shocking videos of the incident, which are spread on social media.
“Since the attack was reported last month, we have been conducting extensive investigations to find those responsible, including working with our CityWatch partners and licensing. If you have additional information that could help our inquiries, if you were in the Matthew Street area on Saturday, April 2 and saw something, please let us know.
“Liverpool is one of the safest cities in the UK – it has been a purple flag for more than a decade and is much more likely to enjoy a safe and pleasant night than to witness or experience horrific incidents like this. If you have any information, please go ahead and help keep our streets safe.
