A man shot in a “targeted attack” near Suke, one arrested: RCMP

A 55-year-old man has been arrested after Mounties said he shot another man in a targeted attack near Suke.

The incident happened shortly after 19:30 on Saturday at a property in the Otter Point area.

According to RCMP Sooke, BC staff and emergency services responded to a rural property and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was immediately taken to a hospital in the Victoria area in serious condition.

The suspect, the RCMP said, fled the scene on foot and was arrested shortly after he was found hiding in a neighborhood.

“Although investigators are in the early stages of this investigation, early indications are that the suspect and the victim were known to each other, it was a targeted attack and there is no further risk to the public,” the sergeant said. Chris Manso of the BC RCMP said in a press release.

Police are asking anyone with any information on the matter to contact Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
