Google introduces the Pixel Watch, Pixel 7 Series, Pixel 6a and Buds Pro

While Google’s I / O conference often places significant emphasis on software updates and launches, this year’s show offers a look at more hardware than we normally expect.

In the least exciting order, let’s get into it:

Pixel Watch

After years of waiting, Google has finally introduced the Pixel watch.

Although we were expecting to see the watch, it’s quite exciting to finally get more details about the wearable. First and foremost, this device will not launch until later this fall along with the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. This means that we should expect the release of the Pixel Watch in October.

The watch will work with WearOS and will have “deep integration” with Fitbit and its technology for tracking heart rate, sleep and fitness. Although Google did not reveal much about the wearable device, he mentioned that the watch will include a voice assistant, wallet integration and support for the Google Home app.

Pixel 7 and 7 Pro

While we were expecting to see the Pixel Watch, looking at the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro was a surprise.

Google has revealed the back of the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro devices. We don’t know much about these two smartphones, but both will offer the next generation of the Google Tensor chip, Android 13 and more.

Google has unveiled its Pixel 6a, and while this may not be the most exciting announcement of the main note, it’s been two years since we saw the Pixel A-series smartphone in Canada. The phone will retail for $ 599 and will be available for pre-order on July 21 before launching on July 28.

Pixel 6a has a 6.1-inch OLED display with a centered selfie camera with hole punching and 60Hz refresh rate and two 12-megapixel sensors (wide and ultra-wide angle) on the visor, similar to the Pixel 6. In addition, it has 6 GB RAM, 128 GB memory, 8-megapixel shooter front and 4410 mAh battery.

We were expecting to see Pixel 6a on Google I / O 2022, but Pixel Buds Pro is more of a surprise. By the time the headset expired a month ago, we figured it would be at least a few more months before we learned more about Google’s high-end wireless headphones.

Pixel Buds Pro will cost $ 259 in Canada. Currently, it is only possible to subscribe to Buds Pro updates on Google’s Canadian website. We have not confirmed availability in Canada, but in the US Pixel buds will launch with Pixel 6a on July 21.

Like Apple’s AirPods, Google says the Pixel Buds Pro is designed to automatically switch between Android devices via “smart” audio switching. Buds Pro are also waterproof IPX4.

Pixel tablet

Google is working on tablets again. This tablet will not run until 2023, but we know it will run on the Google Tensor chip.

In an image that flashes on the screen during I / O, the front of the tablet looked like a Nest Hub display. The front camera is also set to be on top when holding the tablet in landscape, which should be great when calling on video with loved ones.

It also seems that Pixel Tablets are available in white and green, but they are probably subject to change.
