The British Sean Piner, captured in Mariupol, paraded on Russian television

A second British soldier who was captured fighting the Ukrainian army was shown on a parade on Russian state television.

Sean Piner, 48, was seen in a chilling propaganda video released Saturday night.

“Hello, I’m Sean Piner, I’m a UK citizen. I was captured in Mariupol. “I am part of the 36th Brigade of the First Battalion of Ukrainian Marines,” he said in the video.

“I fought in Mariupol for five to six weeks, and now I am in the Donetsk People’s Republic.

In the video, the soldier was wearing a blue hood and no visible bruises, but he looked tired.

Piner, a native of Bedfordshire, England, but living in the Ukrainian city of Donbass, fought in the besieged city of Mariupol with his friend Aidan Aslin, 28, the Guardian reported.

Aslin – the first known prisoner of war in the UK – was also shot for a propaganda video posted last week on Russian state television. He was asked in the video if he was responsible for any murders.

“I don’t know,” he said nervously in English. “I haven’t fought battles.”

The Kremlin says 1,026 Marines fighting for Ukraine, including 162 officers, have surrendered “as a result of successful attacks by Russian armed forces and militias of the Donetsk People’s Republic”, citing pro-Russian rebel Ukrainian forces.

Earlier, Piner expressed concern about his capture.

“I am afraid for my life. The Russians will treat us differently if they catch us because we are British. It’s always on my mind that I’ll be caught, “he told the Mail on Sunday in January.

But he said he felt compelled to fight on behalf of his new home.

“I am here to protect my family and my adopted city. Russia started this war. It is funded by Russia and governed by Russia, but we will fight them, make no mistake, “he said.
