Raptors’ Scotty Barnes came out against the 76ers with an ankle injury; X-rays negative

Toronto Raptors striker Scotty Barnes came out with a sprained left ankle in the team’s loss in Game 1 of the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday. Barnes’ X-rays are negative and he will undergo additional images on Sunday, the Raptors announced after the match.

Barnes’ left ankle rolled over when he was stepped on by 76ers star Joel Embiid in the early fourth quarter. Barnes slammed his fist on the floor and was in great pain as they helped him out of the court. The 20-year-old scored 15 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists before leaving the game.

Raptors striker Thaddeus Young also suffered an injury during the match when he sprained his thumb while going for a loose ball. Young’s X-rays are negative and he will be further evaluated on Sunday with Barnes.

Toronto lost the race 131-111 and will play Game 2 on Monday.
