Maddie Thomas: Three men arrested on suspicion of kidnapping after missing 15-year-old girl

Three men have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping a child after missing 15-year-old Maddie Thomas was found in Bristol.

Police have been searching for the teenager for more than two weeks after she disappeared from her home in the city.

She was found at an address in Bristol on Thursday afternoon, according to Avon and Somerset police.

Three men who were there at the time have been arrested, police said.

Detective Inspector Laura Miller of the Avon and Somerset Police said: “We are pleased to confirm that Maddie has been found.

She said the men who had been detained “will soon be questioned by officers” in a statement issued Thursday afternoon.

“We are extremely grateful for all the support the public has given us in our search for Maddie, and we would like to assure them that she is now being provided with all the care and support she needs,” said DI Miller.

“We believe that there is considerable interest in this case and I would ask people not to speculate and think about the impact it may have on Maddie and her loved ones.”

The forces said investigations were ongoing.

Maddie was last seen on April 26, when she left her foster parents’ address in the Bristol Southmead area and said she was going to the shops.

Police said on Wednesday they no longer treated her disappearance as a case of missing persons, but as the abduction of a child.

Officials said she had a history of meeting people online who she thought could give her money or housing, but – because she had not made contact with friends – feared she could be detained against her will.

Maddie’s foster parents and family have been informed that she has been found.
