Burnaby police are asking the public for help in identifying a man seen masturbating while driving in the city on Thursday.
The obscenity occurred around 3:55 p.m., while the man’s vehicle was stopped at a red traffic light on Lougheed Highway near Gaglardi Way, according to a Burnaby RCMP press release.
A teenager who was a passenger on bus 136 to the west saw the suspect and recorded a video with him, which was shared with police.
Mounties shared two images of the man with his statement on Friday, and they are asking the public for help in identifying him.
Police describe the suspect as a white man with a “medium to severe physique” who appears to be around 50 years old. He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes and “did not appear to be wearing trousers”, police said, adding that he had been stripped “from the waist to the knees”.
Investigators are looking for additional evidence, including other videos from the area, as the teenager’s video “did not capture a view of the vehicle or the suspect’s registration number,” according to the RCMP.
The only description of the vehicle that police could provide on Friday was that “it looks gray”.
Officers are interested in talking to other passengers who were on the bus at the time of the incident, police said.
“It’s about behavior,” said Cap. Alexa Hodgins, in the edition. “The police want the public to be aware of this incident and to report any such activity.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999 and quote file number 22-15593.
