Conchita Wurst revealed how her Eurovision victory paved the way for people around the world like her.
Speaking at a Booking.com event on Saturday, the Austrian singer, who won the contest in 2014, said her victory “forced” a global gender conversation.
“I feel that they have been forced, especially in Austria, to think about what is male and what is female. Whether they wanted to think about it or not. And that really came down to acceptance, “the 33-year-old said.

“Back in 2014, there were so many weird people entering the mainstream, with Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Laverne Cox and Caitlin Jenner, even though we canceled it,” she added with a laugh.
“My victory was really impressive and became what it is today – young people today are so confident. I get insecure when I talk to an 18-year-old! And I love him. I love this kind of progress.
Conchita also touched on how the ascent to international success has affected her personally.

“My life has changed completely. Suddenly you have people listening to you. “You’re at a table you’ve never been invited to,” she said.
“When it comes to music, I’ve worked with so many wonderful people in my career. This is something I really appreciate and I am very grateful. Once you become a member of the Eurovision family, they never let you go.
