Harry and Meghan are releasing the final three episodes on Netflix

“This idea that I supposedly blinded my grandmother just never happened. I have so much respect for her,” Harry said.

Meghan added: “This has been going on for months and months. I think in some people’s minds it was me, ‘Publish!’ – What?”

The so-called Sandringham summit was arranged for the following Monday, by which time Meghan was back in Vancouver with Archie.

“Imagine a conversation, a round table discussion about the future of your life when the stakes are so high. And you as a mother, a wife and a goal in many ways are not invited to sit at the table.”

Harry says, “I could tell they planned it so you wouldn’t be in the room.”

The Duke of Sussex said he had “no other option” but to leave the UK following the results of the Sandringham meeting.

And the Duchess of Sussex said on episode five: “Suddenly what clicked in my head was ‘It’s never going to stop.’

“Every rumor, every negative thing, every lie, and everything that I knew wasn’t true, and that the palace knew wasn’t true and internally knew wasn’t true, was allowed to proliferate.”

Harry said, “So there was no other option at this point. I said we have to get out of here.”

“We are in the field of freedom”

Episode six opens with Harry taking a video selfie at 6am on March 14, 2020, saying “we’re in freedom flight. We are leaving Canada and heading to Los Angeles. Shhhhh.

They are on a private jet with Doria, Archie and their two dogs.

Harry tells the documentary makers: “I wonder what would have happened if we hadn’t come out when we did.”

Megan: “Our location was exposed, we knew our security was down, everyone in the world knew where we were.”

Harry: “This is the current situation thanks to another amazing friend we’ve never met but who wants to help.”

On Canada: Meghan says she “loved being there, it was so peaceful, you could breathe for a minute.”

Harry says they need space to figure out “what the hell we’re doing.”

“I came away feeling refreshed – OK 2020; what do you have?”

He said they chose Vancouver Island because there isn’t a single paparazzi on the island.

Harry says he has spoken to the Queen “many times” about their plan and suggested they go and visit them when they return from Canada on January 6, 2020.

“She knew we were finding things difficult,” he said,

Harry said his grandmother invited them both to tea and suggested they stay as she had no plans for the week.

Meghan says that while they were boarding the plane in Vancouver, they got a message saying they were “not allowed” to visit the Queen, she was busy and had plans all week.

“That was certainly the opposite of what she told me.”

He called her and she told him she didn’t realize she was busy but was told she had plans for the whole week.

“I was like, wow.”

Megan said: “I remember watching H. It’s when the family and the family business are in direct conflict.

“They’re blocking you from seeing the Queen, but what they’re really doing is blocking a grandson from seeing his grandmother.”

The Sussexes are upset over the use of Meghan’s photo

The Sussexes described how Meghan was upset when her photo was used to cover a commemorative event after she joined the royal family, suggesting it overshadowed the presence of others, including the Queen.

Harry said: “The problem is when someone who gets married who is supposed to be a ‘support act’ then steals the limelight or does the job better than those who were born to do it, then it upsets people – it shifts the balance.”

Above footage of the then Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Charles, he added:

“You are led to believe that the only way your charities can succeed and grow or improve is to be on the front pages of these newspapers. But it is the media that chooses who to put on the front page.

“The first time the penny dropped for her, M and I spent the night in a room at Buckingham Palace after an event attended by all the royals – senior royals – including the Queen.”

Meghan continues: “The next morning they were going to make breakfast for Harry and me.”

Harry said: ‘And on the front page of the Telegraph… [a picture of] Megan.”

Megan said: “I went, oh my God.”

Harry added: “She said ‘but it’s not my fault’. I said “I know. And my mother felt the same way.”

Nor do they shed light on how or whether the family actually reacted to the front pages, or whether the problem they feared was mentioned by someone in the palace.

James Holt, chief executive of Archewell, claimed that the aim at Palace from that point on was to “box them in or make them irrelevant”.

Harry: ‘It was never meant to be’

Meghan said: “Until the last week in the UK, I rarely wore colorful clothing. But this week I wore a lot of color. I just felt, let’s just look like a rainbow.”

Harry said, “It was never meant to be.”

They sat late in the kitchen after engagements and talked about how they would continue to do so for the rest of their lives.

Meghan said the public had been fed lies for two years and felt it should be hated.

She said: “But no. People were so supportive, they were sad to leave. We were sad to leave.”

During the documentary Harry was filmed on his mobile phone saying: “I will miss the British public. I will not miss the British press, their followers and their trolls they create.

“I’m going to miss this country. Megan too.”

Harry admitted they were “nervous” to see the rest of the family at their latest engagement – the Commonwealth Day service in March 2020.

“It’s like living in a soap opera where everyone else sees you as entertainment,” he said.

“I felt really distant from the rest of my family, which was interesting because a lot of how they operate is more about how it looks than how it feels.

“And it looked cold, but it also felt cold.”

Prince Harry says his mother Princess Diana might have moved to California if she were alive.

Asked if he misses anything about the ‘institution’, Harry says: ‘Yes, I do miss the odd family gathering where we’re all gathered under one roof at certain times of the year. I miss the UK, I miss my friends, I lost some friends in the process.

“I came here because I had changed to the point where I had outgrown my environment, so this was the most obvious place to come. It’s one of the places where my mother would have lived potentially, you know.

Megan recalled a man jogging on her flight to Canada, who then knelt next to her seat, took off his hat and said, “We appreciate everything you’ve done for our country.”

She added: “It was the first time I felt like someone saw the sacrifice, not for my own country, for this country that’s not mine.”
