Toronto Hydro restores power to all customers after reported ‘widespread’ outages – Toronto

Power has been restored to all customers after “widespread” outages were reported in Toronto on Friday, Toronto Hydro says.

In a tweet around 5:40 p.m., Toronto Hydro said the company was aware of several outages “affecting customers in the city.”

According to Toronto Hydro, the utility experienced “multiple outages” due to “loss of supply from Hydro One.”

Hydro One confirmed there was an outage that affected Toronto Hydro, saying it had sent crews to investigate.

Toronto police said outages affected the Scarborough and Lawrence and Eglinton areas.

Officers reminded drivers to treat intersections as a four-way stop if the traffic lights are out.

Toronto Hydro said that at the peak of the outage, about 40,000 customers were affected.

In an update just before 7 p.m., Toronto Hydro said “all power” has been restored to affected customers.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their patience tonight,” the company said in a tweet.

Hydro One told Global News it was unclear what caused the outage.
