While members of the St. Thomas Police Service (STPS) are investigating at 6 Palm St., an 18-year-old male resident of the home is fighting for his life at a hospital.
“The victim remains in hospital in London and is still in a critical condition in intensive care,” said Steve Bogart, staff inspector at STPS.
“Our investigative team has been working tirelessly over the past few days gathering information and moving this investigation forward.”

While members of the STPS street crime and property crime units continue to hold the crime scene, neighbors say the family has not returned home since Saturday.
On Saturday, shortly after reports of a pre-dawn shooting at the home, dozens of officers blocked off the street and OPP and K-9 tactical teams surrounded the Palm St. home. with weapons drawn.
The activity stunned the immediate neighbor.
“We didn’t hear the gunshot and woke up when the doorbell rang,” said Alex, who did not give his last name.
“Then you see the big truck pull up with guys in green with their guns pointed at the house, it was a bit unnerving to have a newborn and right next to it.”
Police have not arrested anyone, but I do not believe there is an immediate risk to the public.

It is the first serious crime in St. Thomas since August 2016, when Billy Lammers was stabbed to death in his Talbot St. apartment.
This recent shooting leads acting STPS Chief Mark Roskamp to make a statement over the weekend.
“This is a rare occurrence for our community,” Roskamp wrote
“STPS members from various units were activated after this event. We will not waver in our determination to find those responsible for this heinous crime.

(Brent Lale/CTV News) Chief Roskamp added that the increase in gun violence in Ontario is alarming and he will continue to dialogue with members of the provincial and federal government regarding legislation that compromises public safety and all STPS employees.
Until more guns are taken off the streets and the suspect in the St. Thomas shooting is caught, neighbors will continue to be on alert.
“Just make sure everything’s locked up, keep an eye on the outside and just hope they deal with them sooner rather than later,” says Alex.
