Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hit back at Jeremy Clarkson’s apology for his “disgraceful” column in The Sun, claiming he felt “sick” after the backlash.
Claiming he emailed the pair to apologize on Christmas Day, the former Top Gear presenter said he “deeply regrets” the language in his column, adding: “I’m really sorry. All the way from the balls of my feet to the follicles on my head. That’s me, raising my hands. It’s a mea culpa with bells.”
However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex insisted that Clarkson wrote “solely to Prince Harry” and rejected the presenter’s claims that he wrote the column “in haste”, accusing him of a “long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hateful rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny”.
In the article, the former Top Gear presenter said he despised the duchess on a “cellular level”, adding that he dreamed of the day she would be made to parade naked around Britain as crowds chanted “shame” and threw “excrement” at her.

What was Sussex and Clarkson’s initial reaction to the Sun column?
Before the joint statement from Sussex and Jeremy Clarkson’s statements on Monday about his much-maligned column in The Sun, he and Prince Harry had already spoken on the subject. Here’s what they said:
For their part, the couple issued a statement calling the newspaper’s “sincere” apology “nothing more than a PR stunt” and accusing it of cashing in on and exploiting “hate, violence and misogyny”.
Prince Harry later told ITV’s Tom Bradby: “What [Clarkson] said it was appalling and abusive and cruel to my wife. But it also encourages other people in the UK and the world, especially men, to go and think that it is acceptable to treat women in this way.

Queen Elizabeth pressed Meghan Markle for her opinion on Trump in 2016, the book claims
Among the less publicized revelations in Prince Harry’s book was the claim that Queen Elizabeth II put the future Duchess of Sussex on the spot when they first met by asking her about her opinion of Donald Trump when the latter was a presidential candidate for USA.
He described the first meeting between the late Queen and the future duchess as “entirely very pleasant” and noted that the meeting took place in late 2016, just before Mr Trump’s victory.
“Grandma even asked Meg what she thought of Donald Trump,” he wrote, adding that Meg “considered politics a no-win game” and described how she cleverly changed the subject to Canada, where she lived while filming “Suits.”
In response, he said the late Queen “squinted” and replied to Meghan: “I thought you were American,” to which she replied: “I am, but I’ve been living in Canada for seven years for work.” He wrote: “Grandma looked pleased. The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Well well.”

Americans welcomed Prince Harry with open arms. Will “Spare” spoil the love story?
In the teen magazine’s heyday in the US in the 1990s – when Meghan Markle was a California schoolgirl, by the way – it wasn’t unusual to see Prince William’s brooding face peering out from glossy covers alongside glamorous photos of Hollywood heartthrobs, writes Sheila Flynn .
Girls from coast to coast debated the merits of marrying William or Prince Harry, dreaming of the royal weddings they would one day have when one of the princes inevitably plucked them from obscurity.
When Harry leaves for the US with his American bride, the narrative bears the same hallmarks of America’s very foundation: the Rebellion. Autonomy. Rediscovery. Romance.
They had seen the fairytale they wanted come true before their eyes, and the teenage generation – along with much of the rest of America – welcomed Harry and Meghan with open arms.
But two days after Harry Spare’s memoir came out, a message to a group of 40-year-old high school friends — women who now live across the country with different politics and careers — sparked a fast and furious outpouring of responses.
Americans welcomed Prince Harry with open arms. Will “Spare” spoil the love story?
A generation of American teenagers dreamed of marrying Prince Harry and then watched, transfixed, as the fairytale they imagined came true before their eyes. Two years later, the nation welcomed the battle royal after he broke his privileged ties for the love of a Los Angeles-born actress. But after the release of Prince Harry’s book and the media blitz, Sheila Flynn asks: Can he keep America on his side?

Prince Harry suggests royal family may thank him ‘in five or 10 years’ time’
In case you missed it last week, Prince Harry suggested that the royal family might thank him for his memoir “in five or 10 years.”
In an interview with The Telegraph published on January 13, journalist Bryony Gordon wrote that Harry “accepts that any chance of reconciliation” with his family “is unlikely at the moment”.
He said: “What I realized is that you don’t make friends, especially in your family, because everyone has learned to accept this trauma [as] part of life. How dare you, as an individual, talk about this because it makes us all really uncomfortable? So, you might not like me right now, but maybe you’ll thank me in five or ten years.

Lady Gabriella married financier Thomas Kingston in 2019. The intimate ceremony at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle was attended by several high-ranking members of the royal family, including Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Harry.
Her godfather Constantine II, a second cousin of King Charles III, died aged 82 in a private hospital in Athens on January 10.

Sussex responds to Jeremy Clarkson’s apology for Sun column
The Sussexes have issued a response to Jeremy Clarkson’s apology for his column in The Sun about Meghan Markle.
Appearing to dispute a number of claims made by the former Top Gear presenter, the statement – reported by Yahoo’s Omid Scobie – read: ‘On 25 December 2022, Mr Clarkson wrote solely to Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. The contents of his correspondence were marked as private and confidential.
“Although a new public apology was issued today by Mr Clarkson, what remains to be addressed is his long-standing pattern of writing articles that spread hateful rhetoric, dangerous conspiracy theories and misogyny.
“Unless each of his other works were also written ‘in haste,’ as he states, it is clear that this is not an isolated incident shared in haste, but rather a series of articles shared in hate.”
