Ferry services to and from Calais are suspended today due to a national strike in France.
P&O Ferries says it has drawn up an “optimized” sailing schedule, but warned that a “lack of detail” means it cannot predict how much disruption there will be.
“If your trip is not essential, we advise you to reschedule your trip to an alternative date,” the company added.
The Port of Dover said it was “still open, with services to Dunkirk operating as normal” – but passengers should expect facilities and local roads to be busier than usual.
Sailings to Calais are expected to resume from 14:00.
Eurostar said its services would also be affected by the general strike in France and would operate on a “revised timetable” today and tomorrow.
Passengers have been told to check if their train has been cancelled.
Schools in France are also expected to be closed as part of the mass protest.
The national strike is an attempt to defeat planned pension reforms, which would see the retirement age raised by two years to 64.
President Emmanuel Macron says the country can no longer afford to retire at 62.
Unions say members are angry that the positions are being changed again at a time when many workers are already struggling with a cost-of-living crisis.
