Consensus Mock Draft: Top 3 is far from clear in the first care after the draft lottery

Chet Holmgren, the 7-foot center from Gonzaga, will probably enter the top 3 of the draft.

• Complete the NBA project order for 2022

Some notes at first glance before the 2022 NBA Draft, where the Orlando Magic are on the No. 1 watch.

Remember that Consensus Mock Draft is a compilation of the best draft drafts on the web. We bring them together to provide a solid assessment of how the draft can develop (Last updated: May 18, 2:35 am ET):

  • At first glance, the topic of the best drafts on the Internet seems to be uncertain. There is no consensus number 1, as there has been in recent years (every taunt made Cade Cunningham first last season) and there are many variations up and down the lottery. Of course, this is the first concern after the lottery and things will come together once the teams start meeting players, but this is proving to be a very intriguing project.
  • Leading candidates for No. 1 are Jabari Smith, Chet Holmgren and Paolo Banchero. There was some early talk of Jaden Ivey’s jumps, but that was only if certain teams that needed a guard point got the best choice. As it is, the Magic hold the choice and will probably take one of the three big ones, although they are well stocked in the front zone. The prognosticators seem to be divided between Smith and Holmgren as a choice (seven have Smith, four have Holmgren and one lone mocker is Banchero vs. Orlando).
  • Things could get interesting at number 4, where the Sacramento Kings surprisingly landed in the lottery night. The choice here will probably be Jaden Ivy, if he is available, but the Kings are pretty tuned in their back zone with DeAaron Fox and Daven Mitchell, who took home number 9 last season. Ivy is an athletic point guard and the Pistons will be thrilled if he gets out at number 5. Will Sacramento grab the best player available or will he find the right one for their list?
  • One player who sees a lot of variation is Duke’s AJ Griffin. The big man looks tall up to №5 in one model (SB Nation) and up to №12 in another (USA Today). Between these two predictions, he appears most often under the number 8 of the Pelicans. The Ringer called him “one of the most talented scorers in the draft”, but also pointed out that he missed time in high school due to knee and ankle injuries. It is possible that the teams are waiting to see more about the talented shooter.
  • Unlike previous seasons, there is not a single player in our lottery who comes straight from an international game. Closest to an international perspective is Australian Dyson Daniels, who is using the NBA G League’s path to the NBA. Daniels averaged 11.9 points, 7.4 rebounds and 5.1 assists with G League Ignite. Like Australian Josh Guidy, who finished 6th overall last season, Daniels is a ready passer who can have an immediate effect in his first season.
  • Keegan Murray should hear his name in the middle of the lottery. 6 feet-8 ahead of Iowa looks as high as № 4 (ESPN / Net Scouts), but no lower than № 8 (SB Nation). His most likely landing sites are Pistons at No. 5 or Pacers at No. 6. It appears nine times in these two slots.
  • Nine players appear in the lottery in all 12 taunts we investigate: Smith, Holmgren, Banchero, Murray, Ivy, Sharpe, Griffin, Maturin and Davis.

Top 14 (below): To calculate the consensus, we award 14 points for each model project in which the player is first overall, 13 for second, continuing to one point for the final lottery selection. The player with the highest total number of points represents the best overall selection, which is as follows:

1. Chet Holmgren | Orlando Magic

Gonzaga | Position: F / C | Height: 7-0Status: Freshman Most common: 2 (7)

Its length and size make it an elite defender of defensive strikes, but its skinny frame can hurt it against bigger players.

2. Jabari Smith | Oklahoma City Thunder

Auburn | Position: F | Height: 6-10 Status: Freshman Most common: 1 (7)

He has the size, the length and the perfect shot to become an elite goal scorer and the flexibility in defense to become a two-sided star.

3. Paolo Banchero | Houston Rockets

duke | Position: F | Height: 6-10 Status: Freshman Most common: 3 (9)

His size and athletic ability make him ideal in today’s NBA; it must be able to contribute immediately and eventually become a perennial All-Star.

4. Jaden Ivy Sacramento Kings

Purdue | Position: G | Height: 6-4 Status: Second Class Most Common: 4 (7)

An ultra-athletic guard modeled on Ja Morant, he can create his own punch with a quick first step. Defense will have to be improved to become elite.

5. Shedon Sharp Detroit Pistons

Kentucky Position: SG Height: 6-6 Status: Freshman Most common: 5 (5)

Athletic wing that can make a difference at both ends, with finishes around the edge and a reliable jump shot. He spent his first year in Kentucky, so a year of dismissal could affect his transition.

6. Keegan Murray Indiana Pacers

Iowa Position: F | Height: 6-8 Status: Second Class Most Common: 6 (8)

A good man who makes decisions with intelligence and athleticism to become a reliable defender of either big men or wings; a steady shot from a jump that needs to improve over time.

7. Hey Jay Griffin | Portland Trail Blazers

duke | Position: G / F | Height: 6-6 Status: Freshman Most common: 7 (4)

One of the best scorers in the draft, thanks to an arsenal of moves and a solid middle-class game; has the wingspan and size of the wings to become a blocker.

8. Benedict Maturin New Orleans Pelicans

Arizona Position: SG Height: 6-6 Status: Second Class Most Common: 7 (4)

Desirable shooter who has established himself as one of the best shooters in the nation beyond the catch; His skill set needs to translate well in the NBA, where distance should help him score his blow.

9. Jalen Duren | San Antonio Spurs

Memphis Position: C | Height: 6-11 Status: Freshman Most common: 7, 9 (3)

A young talent with a big plus, a physically gifted big man who can finish around the edge; potential to become a top defender who can protect the rim and protect pick-and-roll.

10. Johnny Davis Washington Wizards

Wisconsin Position: SG Height: 6-5 Status: Second Class Most Common: 10 (5)

A guard who loves to work in paint, Davis has a middle-class game that can be translated well into the NBA; showed the desire and passion to become a solid defender.

11. Jeremy Sochan New York Knicks

Baylor Position: F | Height: 6-8 Status: Freshman Most common: 12 (4)

His defensive abilities make him a unique option; his flexibility allows him to contribute immediately as a great man without a position.

12. Dyson Daniels Oklahoma City Thunder

G League Ignite Position: G / F | Height: 6-6 Status: G League Most common: 11 (3)

An Australian playmaker who, like his compatriot Josh Guide, is an above-average pass with a vision of the court and a desire to make it easier for teammates; lockdown defender at the other end.

13. TyTy Washington Jr. | Charlotte Hornets

Kentucky Position: G | Height: 6-3 Status: Freshman Most common: 11 (2)

Interchangeable guard points that can create your strike in a variety of ways; He shot just 33.7% on 3s, but his mid-range game and court vision made him an intriguing option.

14. Despair of Agbaji | Cleveland Cavaliers

Kansas | Position: G | Height: 6-5 Status: Senior Most common: 14 (3)

Elite Shooter, shooting 39.7% of 3 land points last season; At 22, he is older than other potential clients, but also has experience from his time at KU.
