The two weapons found at Charlestown High School – and the two children arrested in connection with it – on Thursday were the latest in a series of high-profile security incidents at public schools in Boston.
Here is a partial list of such incidents, according to authorities:
April 28: Someone distributes swastika flyers and the faces of employees at Condon School in South Boston.
April 29: A live .45-caliber bullet is found in a Condon toilet.
May 3: District officials are accused of failing to call 911 when a student had a medical problem that eventually resulted in a stroke.
May 3: A “bag of bullets” appears on the loading dock of the Boston Latin American Academy.
May 5: A student throws “boiling” water and shoulder noodles at a teacher, who then has to be taken to the doctor and the police station after the principal does not call 911.
May 13: A BPS parent fires a gun while fighting between students in front of Madison Park Vocational Technical School. Officers did not call 911 for several hours, police said.
May 19: First one, then another gun was found in Charleston High School, leading to two arrests.
