Youtube launches new update: Here’s what has changed

YouTube has launched a new update that adds many changes to the video player of this video streaming platform. According to TechCrunch, Google’s video service has a new feature that will help users identify the most popular parts of the video they watch. The company has revealed that the new update will add graphics to any video that can be used to easily find and watch the most played parts of a video. This new feature can be useful, especially for longer videos and those that are not divided into different sections — using time stamps or video chapters. Availability of YouTube’s “Most Playable” Feature Initially, the most playable portion of the video feature was only available to YouTube Premium subscribers who had access to this feature from YouTube.com/New. However, the company announced that this feature will now be available to all YouTube users – both free and Premium and will be available for desktops, iOS and Android platforms. How will this new feature help users? YouTube has added graphics to its video player to show the most played parts of a video. This graphic is designed for users to quickly go through each video on YouTube, watching only the most interesting parts. Creators usually divide their longer videos into segments, chapters, or links to select parts by time stamps. However, these segments may not always correlate with where the chapters or timestamps are, which is usually the case when a particular segment of a video goes viral. In addition, this feature is expected to help users identify the most important parts of tutorial videos and will also direct users directly to the segment that has the most action, such as the most watched part of the gamer’s video. YouTube users will now be able to see gray graphics while watching the video using the red progress bar. The company claims that wherever the graphics are high, this area will display the part (s) of the video that has been replayed many times. The thumbnail above the progress bar will also notify users when they hit the segment that was “Most Played”. Other features released by YouTube In addition to the most replayed feature, the new Youtube update also adds support for video chapters. The company initially launched this segmentation tool in May 2020 for smart TVs and game consoles. How does the YouTube Chapter tool work? The YouTube Chapter tool allows users to jump forward to a specific section of a video or even watch that section again. YouTube claims that the chapters in the platform’s videos can be generated automatically, and also notes that the tool has been added to nearly 20 million videos since its debut. What is YouTube’s Single Loop feature? The platform, owned by Google, has added a new feature called Single Loop, which will allow users to place a video in endless replay. Users will be able to use this option from the same menu used to adjust video quality, include captions and more. Changes added to YouTube’s full screen mode. A new panel will also appear in full screen mode, which will display some information about the video, including video descriptions, video chapters, and comments. Full screen mode will also allow users to access quick action buttons, such as like, dislike, comment, share or add a video to a playlist directly from the mode. Other changes annoyed by YouTube. In addition to the above features, YouTube is annoying and some features that will soon be available to its users. The company has announced that it will launch another new experiment that will allow users to search for the exact moment in a video they want to watch. This feature will also initially be available to Premium subscribers via YouTube.com/New. In other news, there were reports of some brands using Google Messages to bombard Indian consumers with unwanted ads. Click here for more details
