Policewoman fired for “using cop’s boyfriend’s taser on her three children”

A fired policewoman who allegedly used her boyfriend’s electric shock on her three young children faces jail time.

Cop Xochitl Ortiz is accused of “stunning” children in the buttocks, shoulders and arms, according to court documents.

The 34-year-old is in the process of divorcing her father, who has reported the violence to authorities.

The woman’s boyfriend Christopher Worthington, also a police officer, was relieved of his duties days after she was fired by police in Texas, USA.

She is charged with three counts of injuring children under the age of 15 after the alleged attack on the trio at the ages of 8, 11 and 12.

Each charge carries a sentence of up to 10 years in prison under Texas law.

Former Deputy County Police Officer Harris Ortiz appeared in court on May 20 to answer the allegations.

In a statement, Ortiz’s former boss, Mark Herman, said: “On April 14, 2022, my office received a complaint about these allegations and immediately launched an investigation.

“My office, along with investigators from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, worked together, culminating in the arrest of former deputy Xochitl Ortiz and her transfer to investigators.

“Any allegation of misconduct by the police, whether on duty or off-duty, immediately becomes our top priority.

“Each of us who wears this uniform wants to remain proud of our agency and our profession, and we can only do so by fully investigating all allegations of wrongdoing. I am sincerely grateful to our partner agencies for joining us in this investigation. “

Her lawyer, Russell Neumann, told KTRK that his client maintained his innocence and intended to “fight” the charges against her.

Ortiz is accused of “stunning” her children with an “electric self-defense device.”

A court hearing officer told Ortiz: “The facts show that you used a taser to hit each of your children: one on the arm, one on the buttocks, one on the shoulder.

“The facts claim that the complaining witnesses complained of shock and pain and did not feel safe at home.”

She was held on $ 150,000 bail in Harris County Jail.
