Two people were killed and another was injured when a car collided with them near the intersection of 3rd and Mission streets in San Francisco.

Taxis collided with pedestrians in downtown San Francisco near the Yerba Buena Arts Center on Sunday afternoon, leaving two women dead and one man injured, police said. The driver of the car was also injured.
Three people were lying on the sidewalk after being knocked down at the intersection of 3rd and Mission streets, said San Francisco police spokesman Robert Rueca. Arriving immediately after 4.30 pm, first aid officers found the two women dead. The victim was taken to hospital, where his condition is unknown, Rueca said. The taxi driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
At around 5 pm, an emergency signal was issued advising people to stay away from the area due to police and emergency services.
Police declined to reveal further details.
