Chris Hemsworth did enough triceps falls to make his way into his fourth Thor film, Thor: Love and Thunder, directed by Taika Whitey. This is an achievement that no Avenger film can compare to.
But while the trailer for the new film went online Monday, all eyes are on the masked Thor, who wields the mystical hammer of Mölnir at the end. Not God, but Goddess.
This will be Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman. The Oscar-winning actress co-starred with Hemsworth in the first two films about Thor as a love interest. She was noticeably absent from Thor’s third film (Whitey’s first film in the director’s chair), seemingly ending the franchise, until Comic-Con in San Diego in 2019 announced that she would return for Thor 4 – and no only as an object of Thor’s affection, but as the owner of the most powerful hammer in Marvel’s cinematic universe.
Foster’s version of Thor first appeared in the 2014 comic book Thor by Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman. Thor himself became unworthy to rule Mölnir, unable to lift the magic hammer from the ground, paving the way for Thor’s new wife. Her true identity was kept secret from him for months during her initial comic book release and will likely be a big secret as she is also featured at MCU, adding even more comedy feed to one of the funniest franchises in the world. Marvel Studios like the old Thor. trying to figure out who the new Thor is.
Judging by the trailer, the Guardians of the Galaxy are around in this movie also, at least for a moment. The crew of inappropriate, led by the Star Lord (Chris Pratt), made a pact for strange couples with Thor at the end of “Avengers: End of the Game” and they stay together at least until Thor leaves to solve the mystery of the new Thor and big bad guy from this movie: Batman!
Well, not the one on HBO Max, but Christian Bale, the star of Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, who plays Gorr the God Butcher, the villain who will probably bring the two Tories together on screen.
Bale is invisible, this is a short look, but the first look should debut in the next full trailer of “Love and Thunder” before its theatrical broadcast begins on July 8.
