Moss, who testified in less than three minutes, said she had a romantic relationship with Depp from 1994 to 1998. Depp’s team called her as a rebuttal witness in response to Hurd’s testimony, who told the sample she was thinking of hearing, Depp had pushed Moss when she and her sister Whitney Hurd Henriques were in a quarrel with Depp near the stairs.
“He swung at Whitney, and I heard a rumor, a vague rumor about it,” Hurd said on May 17.
On Wednesday, Moss testified under oath that the rumor was false – that the then couple went to Jamaica during their relationship and that at one point in the trip there was a rainstorm and Moss fell down the stairs and injured his back.
“We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room in front of me and there was a rainstorm and when I left the room I slipped down the stairs and hurt my back,” Moss said. “I screamed because I didn’t know what had happened to me and I was in pain, and he came back to help me and took me to my room and sought medical help.
Depp’s lawyer asked Moss if Depp had ever pushed her down the stairs during their relationship.
“No. He never pushed, kicked or threw me down stairs, “Moss said.
Moss has not been cross-examined by Hurd’s legal team.
Depp is suing Hurd for $ 50 million over a 2018 Washington Post article in which she wrote that the actor claimed he was slandering him and that he had allegedly lost his job. Hurd filed a $ 100 million lawsuit against Depp, alleging statements from his lawyer in which he called her allegations of Depp’s harassment a “scam” that slandered her and cost her her job.
The trial, which is taking place in Virginia, has been underway since mid-April. The closing arguments in the case are expected on Friday.
