A woman arrested at the Doug Ford campaign stop

Hamilton police say they have charged a 33-year-old woman with raiding Thursday night after protesting against Progressive Conservative leader Doug Ford.

Police say the protest was formed in front of John C. Munro Hamilton Airport and eventually moved to private property, blocking the way to the Cargojet facility.

The forces said protesters were asked to leave the roadway, but one did not comply and was arrested.

Lawyer Karima Saad said she was the man who was arrested at the airport. She said she had a printed RSVP with her for the Ford event.

“I was not part of any protest group,” Saad said in an interview. “I made this clear to everyone I spoke to that I was attending the rally just to document myself as an interested Ontario resident.”

Police and Saad agree that she was removed from the property and released with a ticket to the property. She said she intends to fight the lawsuit in court.

Asked for comment, Ford spokeswoman Ivana Jelic asked Hamilton Police.
