Numerous shootings kicked off Philadelphia’s Remembrance Day weekend

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – Many people were shot and at least three were killed during a brutal Saturday and the beginning of Remembrance Day in Philadelphia.

One of these shootings took place outside a funeral.

“I used to think I was a pretty strong old dude, but now I think I’m a weak old dude because there’s so much violence,” said a West Oak Lane neighbor.

A neighbor says there are so many shootings that some elderly residents are afraid to go outside.

“It’s so dangerous here these days that we don’t know what to expect,” the neighbor said.

Three people were shot dead in front of the First Haitian Church of God and prophecy just as the funeral ended early Saturday morning.

Investigators say it was not an accidental shooting. The intended target, a 34-year-old man, was shot several times in the chest.

He died of his injuries at the hospital.

Homeless bullets hit a 62-year-old woman in the thigh and a 57-year-old woman in the arm as they left the funeral.

This shooting complements the growing list of violent shootings in the city.

The city is already approaching 200 murders so far this year.

A shooting at Kensington’s 3100 block on Saturday afternoon left another man dead and a woman injured.

Authorities say a 30-year-old man was shot several times on North 50th Street in West Philadelphia.

Police are still searching for suspects, along with the reasons for all these cases.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
