The grandmother of the suspect in the shooting at a school in Texas, Salvador Ramos, was improved to “satisfactory condition” on Sunday afternoon, the health system of the University of San Antonio announced.

Ramos is accused of shooting his grandmother in the face shortly before noon on Tuesday, after which he drove her truck to Rob’s primary school and opened fire, killing 19 children and two adults.

The 66-year-old woman was initially declared in critical condition on Tuesday, but was in serious condition all week before being upgraded to fair on Sunday.

Two other victims of the shooting, a 10-year-old girl and a 9-year-old girl being treated by University Health, were listed in serious and good condition on Sunday, respectively. Another 10-year-old girl was discharged from the hospital on Friday.

Ramos’ grandfather, Rolando Reyes, told Fox News Digital on Thursday that his wife was awake but could not speak after Wednesday’s operation.

The suspect’s grandmother managed to escape across the street to a neighbor’s house and call 911 before being transported to San Antonio for treatment, said Texas Public Safety Director Stephen McCrow.

Miguel Zamora, a border patrol mechanic who lives a block from Ramos’ grandparents, told Fox News Digital that he was home for his lunch break when he saw the truck Ramos was driving on his quiet street at 50 to 60 miles per hour, followed minutes later by the sound of a car crash and hail of gunfire.

Ramos moved in with his grandparents in March and bought two AR-15 rifles in May, just days after his 18th birthday.

A border patrol agent shot and killed Ramos after officers broke into his classroom, although law enforcement was checked for failing to retrieve the massacre earlier.
