Jace won another diva

Blue Jays 11 Angels 10

Do you remember when we could have fired but couldn’t hit? Well, it’s quite the opposite. But it’s more fun.

I do not know where to start.

Well, let’s start with Jose Berios. He was not good. He conceded 6 goals, 6 won (2 scored after leaving the game), 1 walk, 1 out. He gave up 2 home runs, both from Shohei Ohtani. He was gone. He may have been tortured by Gregor Chisholm, noting that Jace’s starters have played 14 games without conceding more than three wins. Or maybe it was bad in itself.

Surprisingly, Jace took a 6-4 lead when he left the game. But he left with runners in the corners and an out.

Ryan Boruki came in and was worse than Berios and then gave up a single that marked both inherited runners. Draw game.

Ryan started the next inning. Honestly, there were 6 innings left and we had a tired pen. It would take work to get to the final. But Ryan was no better in the fourth, he gave up a walk and a home run by Taylor Ward. Suddenly we were down with two. He did pull out Ohtani before leaving the game.

Ross Stripling (who saved last night) enters. He got out of the fourth and made the fifth without a result. He then started sixth with a walk and an RBI pair. And that was his day. In all 1.2 innings (when we needed him to make 3), 2 hits, 1 won, 1 walk, 3 outs.

We were eliminated 8-6 and Andrew Vazquez came in.

Vazquez hit Shohei, which did not fill me with confidence. But then the inning ended. And he received the first blow from the seventh, left-hander, before leaving the game.

Adam Simber gave the home run to Max Stasi, then received the last two outs. This home run hurts because we just tied the game.

Yimi Garcia received the eighth inning after Jace scored 2 to pull forward again. Garcia threw a lot of pitches, but came out of the inning only with a walk allowed.

David Phelps received the ninth, making his first save of the season by making a single with two outs.

The last two innings were the only two in a row in which we did not allow running.

In insult? Well, we had a lot of it. 13 hits and 8 walks. 8 walks.

Springer, Bichette, Kirk, Gurriel and Tapia have two hits each. Gurriel had 2 walks with his two hits.

We entered:

  • 2 in the second: Kirk reached second place in error (his speed causes a wrong throw). Out later, Cavan Biggio stood out. And Lourdes Guriel doubled both at home. When we didn’t score Lourdes from second in one out, I was worried that we missed our chance. Wrong again. Jace leads 2-1.
  • 4 in the third: Springer led with a single. Lineout and ground out (moving Springer into second place) didn’t make it look like we were going to score a bunch in this inning. But Kirk’s single scored Springer. Chapman was walking. Bijo was walking. Guriel was running. Tapia pointed to two. Very nice swing.
  • 3 in the seventh: Bo started things with a single. Kirk was walking. Chapman was chosen to load the bases. After Biggio hit (watching), Gurriel set off once more. Two of his five RBIs came for walks loaded with bases. Tapia was chosen to drive in Kirk, his third RBI in the game. He had a great day. Then Theoscar Hernandez set off on foot, driving in our third jog. Unfortunately, Springer entered a double play. But we leveled the score (for a moment, giving up Cimber’s home run untied it).
  • 2 in the eighth: Bo homered with an out to return the game (of course, that’s the word). 405 feet, 104.8 MPH outside the bat. Kirk followed with a double strike on the basic principle, hit at 106.8 MPH. One out later, Vlad (pinching) was deliberately spent. Then Lourdes doubled Kirk’s home, the winning streak, as it turned out.

Quite a good job to score 11 runs with just one home run.

Jace of the day: Garyel (.630! WPA), Kirk (.299), Bo (.254), Tapia (.230), Hernandez (.204), Phelps (.204), Phelps (.189) and Garcia (.136).

Suckage: Berrios (-.375), Borucki (-.332), Cimber (-.210), Espinal (-.226) and Springer (-.222).

Espinal has had a difficult time since moving to 2nd place. He’s 3 out of 26 since rising up the line, after today’s 0 out of 6 (he really hit a ball in the wall that I thought was out). Maybe this is the 2nd place in the order. Looks like no one can hit there. The 2-point strikers have hit .247 / .291 / .390 this season.

Tomorrow is a day off and then they will host the White Sox for the next three days.
