The Sydney / North Saanich RCMP is investigating an early morning stabbing at a North Saanich home that sent three people to hospital in critical condition.
The incident happened on Friday, May 27 at a residence in the 10,000th block of Derrick Road.
RCMP staff received a call to 911 that many people had received serious injuries from someone who was still at home.
Arriving employees had to enter the residence by force. Once inside, they found three people who had been stabbed several times.
Police found the man believed to be in charge of the scene and detained him without incident.
Officers provided first aid to the victims, while the scene was considered safe for paramedics, and all three victims were eventually transported to hospital.
Police say the victims are currently in serious but stable condition and are expected to survive the injuries.
“Responsible officials relied on their de-escalation training and skills to detain this very agitated and violent person. I am grateful that all the first responders acted professionally to bring this very volatile situation to a safe end, “said Corporal Andres Sanchez, media contact with RCMP Sydney / North Saanich.
The RCMP says there is no danger to society and at this stage of the investigation it is believed that the arrested man is known to the victims. They also believe that this is an isolated incident.
